The Kentucky Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (K-HIIN) is part of the Health Research & Educational Trust's (HRET) a two-year contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to continue efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions. Thanks to the work of hospitals across the country that participated in the HRET Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) and HEN 2.0, we have been able to save over 87,000 lives resulting in over $19.8 billion in cost savings over the past four years! The HRET HIIN will align, accelerate and amplify the prior HRET HEN and Quality Improvement Network-Quality Improvement Organizations (QIN-QIO) successes to pursue the ambitious new goals of reducing all-cause inpatient harm by 20 percent and readmissions by 12 percent by 2019.
